NEW PATIENTS
New to Chiropractic? Here's What to Expect
If you are visiting a chiropractor for the first time, you may be wondering what will happen during your appointment. Our goal is to make your first visit comfortable, informative and personalised, with enough time to properly understand your concerns.
YOUR FIRST VISIT
Please wear comfortable clothing and allow approximately 60 minutes for your initial consultation.
Your first visit will generally include:
1. Health History
We discuss your current concerns, previous injuries, medical history and any factors that may be relevant to your condition.
2. Clinical Examination
Depending on your presentation, this may include orthopaedic, neurological, chiropractic and functional movement assessments.
3. Findings & Discussion
We explain our findings and discuss the factors that may be contributing to your symptoms or movement limitations.
4. Individualised Treatment Plan
Together, we develop a treatment and management plan suited to your condition, goals and lifestyle.
YOUR TREATMENT
Treatment is always tailored to the individual.
Depending on your needs, this may include chiropractic mobilisation or manipulation, soft-tissue techniques, functional rehabilitation, specific exercises or other appropriate non-invasive techniques.
If you prefer not to receive chiropractic adjustments, that's absolutely fine. A variety of gentle, low-force or non-manipulative techniques can be used as alternatives where appropriate.
FOLLOW-UP VISITS
Follow-up consultations are approximately 30 minutes and are focused on your current needs and progress.
A typical follow-up may include:
-
Reassessment of your condition and progress
-
Treatment appropriate to your current presentation
-
Identifying factors that may be contributing to or aggravating your condition
-
Specific exercises and rehabilitation to improve movement, strength and function
-
Education and practical strategies to help you manage your condition and reduce the risk of future problems
YOUR CARE, YOUR GOALS
We believe good chiropractic care is a partnership between practitioner and patient.
Our role is not only to treat your symptoms, but to help you understand your condition, make informed decisions about your care and work towards the goals that matter to you.
Your first visit is about understanding the problem. Your treatment plan is about getting you moving forward.
